Course explainer video [1 min 19 sec]
Development Tools: Articulate Storyline 360, Articulate Review 360, Vyond, Canva Magic AI Image Generator, ElevenLabs AI Voiceover Generator
Year: 2024
Development Time: 100 hours
Responsibilities: Needs Analysis, Visual Design, Storyboarding, Content Development, Prototyping, Technology Integration, Project Management
Client: MENTOR Vermont
Collaborators: Subject Matter Expert (SME)
Summary: A 30-minute Articulate Storyline course with images and voiceover generated with advanced AI-powered tools, and 2 animations designed in Vyond.
Challenge: The visual design was challenging because of the large color palette. I had to use six colors from the MENTOR Vermont brand book, each with a shade, plus additional course theme colors (pink and purple), totaling 14 colors. The design also needed to include a drawing of a unicorn (using the third-party Gender Unicorn Tool), rainbows, playful fonts, and other visuals that appeal to youth culture.
From an instructional standpoint, designing a course about identity posed the risk of focusing on information sharing instead of developing skills.
Solution: To address concerns around information sharing, I collaborated closely with stakeholders to ensure the course design aligned with Merrill's First Principles of Instruction, emphasizing a task-oriented approach.
To meet the visual design needs, the course was created as a youth comic book with bright colors and fun fonts. This design helped the target audience to connect with the mentees’ culture, making it easier to relate and engage.
Results: The stakeholders were 100% satisfied with the unique visual design of the course and the consistent style across assets created with different tools like Canva, Storyline, and Vyond, resulting in a cohesive visual experience.

Solution: To address these challenges, the course was primarily developed in Articulate Rise, chosen for its speed and ease of use in creating content quickly.
To elevate engagement, a custom-built Articulate Storyline interactive activity was added at the end, allowing learners to type in and apply what they had learned, transforming the experience from passive to active learning.
Results: The strategic selection and combination of tools reduced the course development time by 50% while maintaining high quality and ensuring quick completion.

Summary: A comprehensive 61-slide storyboard detailing every aspect required for stakeholder approval, including navigation and interactivity plans, voiceover scripts, sound effects, accessibility considerations, and visual layouts of the training screens in accordance with the style guide.
Challenge: Sourcing vibrant images for the storyboard was challenging due to the requirement to incorporate 14 colors, as well as drawings of a unicorn, rainbows, and children, all while ensuring a cohesive and engaging design.
Solution: Utilizing Canva Magic AI for image generation streamlined the creative process, allowing for the efficient production of visual assets that met all complex requirements.
Results: AI image generation saved 80% of the time usually spent on sourcing, creating, and customizing visual assets for the online course. The storyboard clearly conveyed the proposed training design and fully met stakeholder expectations.

Summary: 4 microlearning lessons developed in collaboration with learning designers and editors to ensure accuracy, instructional effectiveness and high engagement.
Challenge: Learners struggle to find engaging, accessible and reliable educational content online, including on social media platforms like TikTok, where information is often unverified and not created by learning experts.
Solution: Rumie solves this by offering engaging, expert-reviewed Bytes — short, high-quality microlearning lessons designed by professional instructional designers and reviewed by medical professionals when needed to ensure accuracy and trustworthiness.
Results: I published multiple high-traffic Bytes to the Rumie Learn library, enhancing learner engagement through concise text, visuals, and interactive elements. I strengthened content quality by aligning with high-traffic learning objectives, integrating editor feedback, and improving collaboration with volunteer learning designers.
Explainer Video Script
Animation based on Script: Procedural Skill Training [~ 3 min]
Development Tools: Google Docs
Year: 2023
Development Time: 2 hours
Responsibilities: Scripting, Content Development
Client: Portfolio
Collaborators: Independent work
Summary: A 3-page script of an online course explainer video that contains narration and visual ideas.
Challenge: The Statement of Work required a video tutorial from the SME, but the SME was unavailable to record the video before the deadline.
Solution: I proposed using a concise animated explainer, leveraging a well-prepared script document to guide development. The detailed script ensured the animation was clear, engaging, and easy to follow, eliminating the need for the SME's direct involvement.
Results: By transitioning to animation and utilizing the script, I met the approved deadlines and completed the project on time. The script streamlined development, ensuring a smooth, delay-free process.
Gamified Onboarding
Development Tools: Canva, Slack Workflow Builder
Year: 2022
Development Time: 2 hours
Responsibilities: Needs Analysis, Instructional Design, Scripting, Technology Integration
Client: Portfolio
Collaborators: Independent work
Summary: A 5-step quest delivered via Direct Messages (DMs) on Slack automatically upon a new learner joining a course community is designed as part of the onboarding process.
Challenge: Learners who are new to Slack may encounter barriers when trying to use the platform effectively for interacting with peers and completing assignments.
Solution: By offering a gamified onboarding quest on Slack, I seamlessly trained newly joined community members in platform usage while fostering relationship-building through a fun adventure. The quest steps were designed to help new members master the skills needed to navigate the platform and begin interacting with their peers and course content from the moment they joined.
Results: Designing the onboarding as a Slack quest resulted in a higher onboarding completion rate of over 85%. This approach fostered a more engaged and active course community, leading to increased learner retention and course completion rates.
More information about the project is available in my Medium blog post linked here.
Instructional Design Document
Development Tools: Google Doc
Year: 2024
Development Time: 2 hours
Responsibilities: Project Management
Client: MENTOR Vermont
Collaborators: Subject Matter Expert (SME), Training Manager
Summary: A 9-page instructional design document that organizes project details according to the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate). It tracks progress, assigns tasks, and supports decision-making.
Challenge: It is challenging to manage a complex project with stakeholders across different time zones, busy schedules, and various tools and platforms (Google G Suite, Canva Teams, Articulate Review).
Solution: I created a project hub in the form of an instructional design document that includes:
Roles and Responsibilities;
Problem Statement;
Technical Requirements;
Deliverables;
Visual Design Requirements;
Learning Objectives;
Instructional Strategies;
Project Timeline;
Communication Plan;
Documentation;
Project Sign-Off.
Results: The clear and organized instructional design document improved stakeholder satisfaction and saved time and resources, enhancing overall project efficiency.

Problem scenario video. Part 2 [~40 sec]
Development Tools: Vyond
Year: 2022
Development Time: 4 hours
Responsibilities: Needs Analysis, Storytelling, Scripting, Visual Design, Content Development
Client: Portfolio
Collaborators: Independent work
Summary: Two 40-second Vyond animations are used to present a single problem scenario, serving as an engaging introduction for learners at the beginning of an online course.
Challenge: It's challenging to capture learners' attention early in an online course and convey the significance and complexity of the topic at hand.
Solution: When learners understand the importance of the skills developed through the training, they remain alert and motivated throughout the course, which positively impacts learning outcomes.
Instead of just telling learners about the problem, I introduced a problem scenario illustrating its significance.
Results: Interviews with the learners revealed that, for 100% of them, introducing the problem and activating their prior knowledge through these videos helped maintain motivation and enabled them to progress through the course more effectively.
