Collaborators: MENTOR Vermont SMEs

Summary: I created instructor-led training materials using Keynote and Canva on macOS, then converted them to PowerPoint and Word for Windows OS.

Challenge: The task required creating formal, professionally-styled instructor-led training materials for a course originally presented in a comic book format.

Solution: I referred the comic-book style of the eLearning materials by incorporating layered images, while formalizing the slides, facilitator guide, and participant guides to create a cohesive design with a more professional tone for the instructor-led materials.

Results: The slides were provided in formats compatible with both macOS and Windows OS, ensuring a smooth adoption process for all trainers.

Year: 2015

Development Time: 20 min

Responsibilities: Video editing, Marketing

Client: MSU

Collaborators: Independent work

Summary: A short promotional video created to advertise an online elective course for medical students.

Challenge: I had to attract a large number of medical students to enroll in an elective course I designed, which introduced a new approach to enhancing doctors' communication skills with patients from diverse cultural backgrounds who speak non-English languages.

Solution: I created a short video clip and a dedicated course webpage, which were shared across social media platforms popular among the students.

Results: I achieved extensive outreach, enrolling students from 8 medical schools nationwide, 100% of whom successfully completed the course.

Responsibilities: Visual Design, Copywriting, Branding

Client: Young SIETAR

Collaborators: Young SIETAR Events Coordinator

Summary: The marketing materials for the Train-the-Trainer program included a flyer and a poster, both featuring a specially designed program logo.

Challenge: The success of the Train-the-Trainer event relied on enrollment rates, which was challenging due to low awareness of the training among the target audience.

Solution: I created a distinctive and memorable logo for the program and coordinated the distribution of printed promotional materials at local universities contributing to increased enrollment rates and overall program success.

Results: High-quality printed materials with a new logo increased awareness of the training program among the target audience and significantly enhanced participants' sense of belonging.

Year: 2016

Development Time: 50 hours

Responsibilities: Visual Design, Project Management

Client: HSE

Collaborators: Independent work

Summary: A 200-page workbook is designed for university courses, accessible in both printed and electronic versions.

Challenge: A workbook for independent study of nonverbal communication across cultures needed to be user-friendly and visually appealing. It required clear, high-quality illustrations of gestures, poses, and other images to enhance student understanding and engagement.

Solution: Using Adobe InDesign, I designed a textbook with high-quality images suitable for print and digital formats. The layout includes easy reference sections and self-evaluation pages for test preparation.

Results: The workbook, published in Europe, has been used in leading universities for over 12 years, supporting both independent and classroom learning.

Note: This portfolio sample does not include the workbook text to safeguard copyright. All text has been replaced with standard sample text "Lorem Ipsum".

Responsibilities: Content Development, Customer Support

Collaborators: Independent work

Summary: A comprehensive resource guide for a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) offered by the University of Pennsylvania on Coursera, containing all references mentioned in the video lectures, was published on SlideShare, an online slide-hosting service owned by LinkedIn.

Challenge: In the video lectures, learners could see links to books, articles, videos, and other resources. However, the links were not interactive, requiring learners to manually type them into their browser's URL bar.

Solution: I created a reference document that includes a list of all the links mentioned in the video lectures to support further independent learning.

Results: The resource guide has been one of the most upvoted posts on the Coursera Gamification Course Forum since its publication in 2017.

Learning Community Logo

Logo Rationale [.pdf, 262 KB]

Development ToolsAdobe Illustrator

Year: 2023

Development Time: 20 hours

Responsibilities: Visual Design, Copywriting, Branding

Client: Genuity

Collaborators: Independent work

Summary: A logo and tagline for a company, to be used across the website, educational content, and marketing materials.

Challenge: The company supports a community of patients with rare diseases, especially those with genetic disorders. The name "Genuity" combines "genetic" and "community," reflecting the authentic connections among patients on the platform, which the logo should capture.

Solution: The logo used letters with missing parts to represent the absent chromosomes linked to genetic disorders within the community. Despite their imperfections, the letters formed an organically beautiful design, symbolizing the diverse genetic makeup and unity of this unique patient community.

Results: The logo integrated the themes of genetics and community, effectively capturing and reflecting the brand's identity and mission. I also created a powerful tagline for the learning community.
